My favorite is the Food Network game Cook or be Cooked. I’d rather actually eat after I cook. But that’s just me. ;~)

Ask Roni: Backing up Blogs
Posted on February 12th, 2010 in blogging | 12 Comments »
Hi Roni!
It seems like forever ago, but …maybe 2 or 3 years ago you had a big website crash, and you lost a lot of your posts and had to start from scratch.
I’ve started a blog about my travels in madagascar and working as an expat. I had no idea that it would ever get to be as “big” (well…for me.. lol) as it has and I would like to make sure that I don’t “lose” any of my posts. How can I back up my blog information?
(sorry if this is a silly IT question…i really don’t understand the concept of cyberspace storage)

Hi Nicole!
This is a great question and I’m not sure I have all the answers. STILL! Even after losing 2 years of posts. Read the rest of this entry »
Do you have Klout?

Sorry for my absence. Every since WordCamp Boston I’ve been playing with JQuery (thanks to Jim Doran.) I’m hoping to post a few examples but it’s taking me a little longer then expected.
So instead I thought I pass on an interesting new twitter tool I found called Klout. Klout measures influence on topics across the social web. It gives you an interesting visual of your twitter profile. Think of it like a Myers-Briggs for your twitter personality.
The four “types” are. . . Read the rest of this entry »

5 Tips to Finding your Blog Voice
Posted on November 11th, 2009 in blogging | 8 Comments »

Hey Roni! Love your sites! I have been a been a fan of Roni’’s Weigh for a long time. I debated about whether to post this on RW or here, but decided to post here, since it is a blog-related.
After being a blog lurker for a long time, I have decided to start my own blog. In fact, I have set it up already on Word Press, but haven’t made it public yet. I am surprised to find myself hesitant to put it "out there." I definitely have things to say, have technical prowess and am a competent writer, so this is silly, I know.
Do you have any advice about finding your blogging voice, kicking off your blog and not being intimidated by all the other voices in the "blogosphere"?
-Susan
Hi Susan! What a great question! Blogging voice is a term I hear and use a lot as it’s really the only way to describe your unique point of view and writing style as a blogger. Read the rest of this entry »
Blogs vs. Other Creative Works

I had an interesting conversation this morning. I work as a web designer for Research Center at a University. They are very, VERY, talented when it comes to media, animation, editing, writing, film, etc. Blogging, on the other hand, doesn’t come as naturally. I’m awed and intrigued at the fundamental differences in the way a blogger thinks verses an artist. Read the rest of this entry »

Ask Roni: Which Blogging Platform do I Pick?
Posted on August 11th, 2009 in Ask Roni, blogging | 8 Comments »
Hello Roni, I just started my own blog to track my weight loss journal. I set up my blog on blogspot but was looking at Wordpress as well. I’m so new to this that I wanted to ask which of the two do you recommend. I see you write about Wordpress and it seems to have more gadgets. Should I switch to Wordpress whle my blog is so young? Later, I would like to add recipes and photos that I’ve taken…and I’m not sure if blogspot is the home for me… any advise?
I love and hate this question because I have used both and I do have strong opinions but that’s all they are… Read the rest of this entry »
